Kherson Speaking Club is back to work

After a long break Kherson Speaking Club came back to Window on America center for future leaders and yesterday there was a meeting dedicated to New Year’s Day. Peace Corps Volunteers Nina Jackson and Whitney Cravens came with other American citizens who are currently live in Ukraine as volunteers. We started with the Year End Reflections and answered some questions about the last year. Then we compared the traditions of celebrations winter holidays in the USA and Ukraine and remembered all things happened in 2019 through the "Trivia". And of course everybody heard about the resolutions and so we all came up with 3 of them. At the end we had time to talk with native speakers for a while.

Winter Fun at Cool Speaking Club

Cool Speaking Club began its work yesterday at Window on America for future Leaders Center where active members came to improve their English with American volunteers. We started with WordGames and revised all words and phrases about Christmas and New Year (christmas tree, "Home Alone", carols, Santa Claus, hot chocolate, reindeers, family, fireworks, stockings.....) 

Then we talked about "Gifts & Presents" and everybody discussed some questions, such as "What is the best present you’ve ever had?", "Have you ever got weird gifts?" etc. and we watched a funny video “Giving weird Christmas presents” with further discussion. And of course our favorite kind of activity is playing board games so we chose "Alias" to play. Thanks to our guests we always have fun during the meetings. Сoolspeaking club

Yesterday there was a meeting at woafl_kherson where we met new American volunteers who came to talk with members of coolspeaking club. We had a very friendly meeting with hot tea and cookies.

We asked and answered different questions about the USA, the food, the activities and of course coming holidays. It was fun to improve English with native speakers

Whatever the weather

There were 3 meetings of  English club at WOAFL Kherson today where more than 20 visitors came to learn English and have fun. With students we talked about the Healthy Lifestyle and the ways to be fit. We began with discussion and health proverbs. Then we learnt how to say about your health in English and how to give advices to people who aren't feeling good. With the kids we continued to learn the topic about the Weather🌞⛅☔❄⛄ and seasons. We listened to kid songs and played games. At the end the little ones drew the picture of their favorite season. With elder group we also discussed season questions and shared our likes and dislikes during that time. In order to remeber the names of all seasons and their months in English we played kahoot games.

Thanksgiving Day

Thanksgiving Day is a very popular holiday in the USA and woafl_kherson decided to dedicate meetings to this day. So we had two sessions in our library_kherson_ua full of interesting information with lots of activities and discussions. Khersonspeakingclub met active members last week and coolspeaking club was yesterday. Thanks to our friends, peacecorpsvolunteers, Nina Jackson and Whitney Cravens and Troy Burton and Ethan Robison we got to know more about this holiday, its history and tradition. And of course we had a chance to compare holidays in the USA🇱🇷 and Ukraine. At the end all visitors shared their thoughts about what they were thankful for.
