First Times

Do you remember your first time…when you travel to another country? When you try new cuisine or exotic food? When you came to university? When you started your working day? Last English Practice we talked about our “First Times” reminiscing about our past.

We had lots of fun while sharing memorable moments of our life. The most important part was that all participants could speak English without fear of making mistakes.

Embroidery Day in Ukraine

Today, there’s an Embroidery Day in Ukraine so everybody is trying to wear a nice Ukrainian shirt these days. This topic for my speaking club was also about fashion and clothing. 

We started with the “This or That” activity, then we learned some phrasal verbs related to clothes such as

- do up

- dress up

- have on

- kick off

- slip on

- wrap up

- go with etc. 

And of course we discussed some questions revising those phrases.

It’s really important to be united with others

Ukraine has a big support from Europe and other countries and we can feel that we’re not alone in this world. Thus, last English Practice we talked about the European Union and what are pros and cons of being a part of it.

We watched a short video about Europe Days and discussed why it’s celebrated. After some discussion we learned some idioms related to European Countries such as Go Dutch, When in Rome, Talk for England, Take a French Leave etc.

If only I had done that

What would have happened if you’d always listened to you parents ? Last time when we had the English Practice we could remember about our childhood, some mistakes we did and some things we didn’t do and now regret them.

Firstly we revised some Conditional Sentences and how to use them in everyday life. Then we watched a video to practice our listening and improve our vocabulary. As usual we had lots of speaking which is always fun.  

Speaking Practice

How often do you regret doing something? Or you wish something happened? Every day we do some things that tomorrow we wish they didn’t happen. That’s why I decided to talk about our regrets during the English Practice.

We watched a video, discussed some questions and learned how we can talk about it in English. And of course we had a lot of speaking.

Do you like plan your future?

There’s one good thing about having zoom meetings is that people can join from all over the world. Thus last time we had members from the USA, Ireland, Poland, Croatia, Kazakhstan and of course Ukraine.

We talked about our future and how to make plans in English, revised some grammar, learned new expressions and made different predictions.
