Special Time: Easter

Easter for me is something special and different. It is the time when I can think more deeply about my life and realize how grateful I am for what God did for everyone on Earth. And because this English practice was held during this holiday we of course talked about Easter.

I do enjoy starting my working week with our English Practice . It’s always fun and productive with lots of communication, learning and improving the language. This time we looked through some idioms related to Easter Holiday and then had some discussion which took almost all time we had .

The best time of our lives

Talking about the age is sometimes might be awkward but not for these people who improve English with our Practice

It took us two meetings to talk about “The best time of our lives” where we discussed pros and cons of being different ages, learned idioms and practiced them talking about ourselves.

International Party Holiday

So yesterday’s meeting of English Practice we dedicated to celebrations and parties.

We got started with brainstorming and named kinds of parties such as farewell, tea, housewarming, surprise, hen/stag etc. and also discussed pros and cons of hosting each of them. Then we did another fun speaking activity “Explain Why…” where our participants were given different situations and they came up with ideas why it might happen.

April fool’s day

How to stay positive during these days, especially if you’re away from home or your family? My friends who join the English Practice, share their “recipes” of being happy against the odds. Some of them dedicate themselves to their favorite activities and hobbies. The others spend much time with families and friends. And the most important thing is to serve and help people in need. So we had a fun Speaking practice yesterday watching some videos, discussing questions, making up funny jokes and learning new vocabulary in English. 

I can definitely say that this group of people makes my day and helps being cheerful even if something doesn’t work for me.

English by movies?

Watching movies in English is one of the best ways to improve your listening skills and learn some great vocabulary. Yesterday we discussed some questions about movies doing “Would you rather…” activity and then watched a short video clip from “F.R.I.E.N.D.S” TV series. After watching it we learned new phrases to use instead of “I want” such as:
I feel like …
I’m in the mood for…
I’m craving…
I’m dying to/for…
I could go for…
