English by movies?

Watching movies in English is one of the best ways to improve your listening skills and learn some great vocabulary. Yesterday we discussed some questions about movies doing “Would you rather…” activity and then watched a short video clip from “F.R.I.E.N.D.S” TV series. After watching it we learned new phrases to use instead of “I want” such as:
I feel like …
I’m in the mood for…
I’m craving…
I’m dying to/for…
I could go for…

After one week of absence, we’re back to our English Speaking meetings again

 After one week of absence, we’re back to our English Speaking meetings again.

We talked a lot about movies and learned some vocabulary related to the topic. Our participants told how they choose which movie to watch, share different experiences going to the cinema and made a list of their favorite ones. We didn’t have time to do all the activities I’ve got for them so we’ll probably continue discussing this topic on Monday.

When in Rome do as the Romans do. Probably everyone heard this saying before but what exactly it means.

It was great to learn some other Countries Idioms (e.g. Go Dutch, Take French Leave, It’s all Greek to me etc.) with the group of students who join English Speaking Practice. I’m really happy that native speakers take part in our meetings and help us improve our English. I’m glad to see our friends from all over the world, so we can share our experiences of living in different countries. Yesterday we compared lifestyles of the USA , Albania , Ireland , Canada and of course Ukraine - countries where lots of people fled to from the war. It’s great to understand that there are people who support refugees and help them feel like at home in many countries. I do believe that we come back to our hometown and meet each other in person.

What a great way to start a week with English

What a great way to start a week with English especially with people you have a lot in common. This time we talked about relationships and learned some phrases to talk about them in English.

Our friends from the USA and Canada taught us some useful expressions and at the end of the meeting we had a free speaking conversation. I do love this Practice because it helps me not to give up and do my job

Speaking Practice

 What fills my cup? What are the important things in my life now? What are my priorities? 

Thanks to our American friend, Cari Peck we had a chance to think about it yesterday during the English practice. It doesn’t matter where you’re from, what language you speak and what you do in life we all want the same things. Since the war started my values has changed and I began to appreciate every day of my life and people who I’m surrounded with.

Try to do that activity - it does focus on the great thoughts.
